5.0.4 on the Horizon

Well it's official.  We are now currently downloading 5.0.4, the Pre-expansion Patch leading up to Pandamonioum.  If you're interested, the patch notes for the current 5.0.4 build on the PTR can be read here.  For those of you who don't like to read through patch notes to find what you need, I'll be highlighting the gold making implications here.  Also as a side note predictions and history don't put this patch until early September, so you still have time to prepare!
He's ready, are you?

Glyphs Overhauled
Blizzard is not waiting until Mists is released to completely overhaul the glyph and talent system, they're giving us a window to adjust.  For those of you whom are scribes you know the potential implications of this.  All glyphs are changing.  A few are being removed but MOST are being changed in some way.  Speculation is saying Glyphmas 2.0 may occur, especially if the inks are no longer tradeable as they were during the original Glyphmas.  Only time will tell on that one, although I know many of us have our fingers crossed.

How I'm Preparing

I'm not big into glyphs, but with all the hype I can't not have a hand in it.  I already have crafted 9 of each glyph my scribe can craft (and doing lots of research), and hope for 20 of each before 5.0.4 comes out.  I'm ignoring the info about the ones that are changing to nothing, mostly because of my laziness.  Last I checked there were only 3, and if we make out the way we're supposed to, 3 stacks of glyphs will be the least of my expenditures.

My suggestion during your grinding is to do something else while crafting to occupy your time, and while you craft all the inks, feel free to browse the web, and perhaps catch up on your favorite TV series or read your favorite WoW Gold Blog.

Mogging Wands!
This is a market I have been looking at for a while, if you don't have my ultimate list of BoE transmog wands, check it out here!  Yes, casters will be able to use their wands as main hands in 5.0.4.  If you're not a caster and don't see why this is important, previously wands were never seen on a caster unless they took them out (rare) or if they decided to cast "shoot" with their wand (hopefully never).  In 5.0.4, wands will be used as main-hand weapons for casters, so they can (and probably will) be WAY more prevalent in transmog.  Buy low now to sell high soon!

AoE Looting
I'm excited about this one.  AoE looting will be live on servers come the pre-expansion patch, which will give us gold makers something to twiddle with in the weeks before MoP.  I mentioned in a previous post that I will be using this to my advantage to go after the pet Mr. Grubbs.  I have not tried it on the PTR because I hate putting the time in to test something and even if it works I'm not benefited by it in the "real game" (yes IRG I just got meta on you).  They have nerfed overall gold/silver drops of mobs, which is to be expected, but it will be interesting to see how other keen gold makers take advantage of this in the coming weeks.  Transitions are always a fun time in WoW.

Account Wide Pets/Mounts
This may have some gold making implications on the mount side (think Mechanohog), but there are not many gold makers who focus greatly on mounts.  This change may get you better selling prices (possibly more sales).  Buyers will be a lot more willing to shell out 20k for a Mechanohog on 10 players than only 1 player.  Same goes for pets. Since the battle system won't be instated until Mists, we won't see that huge surge in pet interest yet, but consider charging more for your pets/mounts.  Although a lot of alts will now have what you're selling, a lot of them will be more willing to pay higher prices for a companion across alts.

Cool, but Irrelevant to Gold Making
Yes 5.0.4 has other cool things but alas not all of them are going to increase our wealth.

  • Pre-MoP quests: I'm interested to see how these pan out, not released yet on the PTR so I know something epic is going to happen on the poor Alliance isle of Theramore!
  • Battle Tags: If you've played D3 you know what they are, basically real ID without exchanging Email addresses.
  • Overhaul of Abilities: Not only are glyphs being changed, but all talent trees are being completely revamped.  I'm not the one to get the info from about this though :).
All in all it's going to be an interesting time, with glyphs being my major focus (at least on the things changing level).  What is your favorite part of patch 5.0.4?

MoP in 2 Months!

So it's officially official that MoP will be released in 2 MONTHS.

I must say I am VERY surprised it is coming out so soon, but for gold making, there couldn't be better news!  When news of Mists coming out so very soon hits the public, people will be flocking back to the game to level alts and prepare their characters for the new expansion, so look forward to increased population on all servers in the upcoming 2 months leading up to MoP.  I'm going to go over some things I'll be looking out for in the coming month.

Cata Twink Gear
The 77-80 market is not going to be replaced by anything in MoP.  There will most likely be a substantial decrease in the amount of this gear available to buy and resell, but I wouldn't worry about dumping it all the moment you log on today.  It's still a viable market come MoP, levelers will always want to buy gear, no matter how much the gold making community and advice givers in general advise against it.

Now on the other hand, if you have been dipping into the 83-84 Cata gear market, there should be a RED FLAG coming up.  SELL, SELL, SELL!!  Cut your prices in this market, still sell at profit, but you want to dump all this stuff as fast as possible.  In the same way Cataclysm created the 77-80 Twink market, Mists of Pandaria is creating an 83-84 Twink Market.  Here is a list of all the items that are 83-84 BoE added in MoP and (some are) worlds better than whats available as an epic at level 85 right now.  Keep this gear in mind when you start leveling your 85s on September 25th!

Inscription
There's been a lot of rumors floating around about inscription recently.   Going back to the Cata pre-expansion patch, we saw that you were no longer able to trade inks until the release of Cata.  Been stockpiling Blackfallow?  Start trading them in!  If you haven't been stockpiling now is the time to start, it is almost too late to ensure a great distribution, but you don't want to miss out on (what could possibly be) Glyphmas 2.0.  Make sure you keep up to date on all the OFFICIAL changes that will be made (what glyphs will be changing over, which ones are being left in the dust, what inks you'll need etc.).  If you're hardcore into inscription and you want to keep up to date on all the official changes and nuances, I'm not your man.  Make sure you follow Croda's blog marketsforgold, his main focus is glyphs, and glyphs are my least favorite market.

Stockpiling
Again, getting late on this but there are still ways to start stockpiling now.

Pets are a great way to stockpile, especially the Elementium Geode as I had suggested in previous stockpiling posts.  I plan on coming out with a post based entirely on stocking up on pets for Mists, so I'm not going to delve into it too much, but for more of a read check out Cold's post Get Out While You Still Can!

Cataclysm mats are another great thing to stockpile.  With the influx of players, raw mats on the AH should at least increase in volume, if not decrease in price as well.  For selling a few months into Mists, raw mats are a great thing to stockpile long term, especially Hypnotic Dust, as it will be needed to level Enchanting more than Cata Essences.

WANDS!
The wand slot will be removed in 5.0.4, and wands will be made a "main hand" caster weapon, with stats to match.  I wrote a post that you can find here about the best BoE wands to stockpile for this.  Again with the influx of players for Mists, you may start to find more of these wands on the AH, and should add them to your overall mogging searches.

This is just a small slice of the pie, but hopefully some big topics that you can start (or already are) hitting on.
What is your biggest goal to get done before the MoP release in 2 months?

Cheers,

Phat Lewts

Wand Mogging List for Mists of Pandaria!

As promised in my previous post, I've made a list of wands that would make for good transmog come MoP.  The reason I think wands will be a great thing to stockpile for Mists is because they will become a main weapon for caster's in MoP, and no one is using them for transmog right now.

Theresa's Booklight
Torch of Austen
Gwyneth's Runed Dragonwand

This list includes all unique looking BoE wands that could be sold on the AH for mogging, come MoP when wands are going to become caster's main weapons.  I also only included items that are currently able to be transmogged, ie. they have some sort of primary or secondary stat on them, assuming the mogging rules won't change come MoP.

Wand of Allistarj
Wasteland Wand

This is by no means a guide to mogging wands, but a guide to buying BoE mogging wands to resell in the future.  Without further ado, here are your lists, in both TSM and Auctionator formats:

***Mogging Wands
Wand of Allistarj
Wand of Arcane Potency
Torch of Austen
Antenna of Invigoration
Crystalized Ebony Wand
Wasteland Wand
Gwyneth's Runed Dragonwand
Incessant Torch
Nightmare Ender
Torchlight Wand
Wand of Dark Worship
Cyu's Ornate Wand
Theresa's Booklight

Wand of Arcane Potency

I chose all of the wands based on unique models, but the price point you are willing to buy at should be based on your perception of how well it will sell in Mists.  IMO these will be a great inflation buster as well as stockpiling investment.  Just a side note to those interested:  Although Crystalized Ebony Wand and Wasteland Wand share the same model as many other BoE wands, I chose them for this list because they are the only BoE models that are black.  Hope you enjoyed the list!

My Mists Stockpile

Hey guys,

A lot of gold bloggers recently have been going over stockpiling for MoP, and while I'm not really full fledged into stockpiling mode right now, I figured I'd go over what I currently am looking for and what I'll be looking for in the future.

Pets
As you can see I have a decent amount of pets.  With the new pet battle (Pokémon) system coming out, pets are going to be a commodity in HIGH DEMAND in MoP.  People will want rare pets that not many others have.  To this tune I have been snatching up Argent Tournament pets that are below half my average server price, as well as Elementium Geodes.  The Argent Tournament Pets are pretty few and far between as is, not to mention that near the release of MoP, very few people will be acquiring more of them (if any) because they are exploring new content.  The Elementium Geodes are less than a 1% drop right now, and considering that Elementium Ore won't be farmed NEARLY as much, I'm buying these up at around 200-300g and putting them in storage for safe keeping!

Swift Lovebird
I bought these during the Love is in the Air event in WoW hoping to resell a few months down the road.  Not sure what will happen with these, but I have them.

Don Gonzales' Shiny Shield
You may remember this shield from my post Auctionating Mogging Shields.  This is a very rare drop in Cataclysm.  Although it shares it's model with a 15% drop from Naxx 10, I think it will be a good seller in MoP regardless.  The reason I am going to hold on to these to sell until MoP is that even though they're rare now, they'll be EVEN RARER once people stop doing Cataclysm content as regularly.  When doing my mogging shields search on the AH I will buy this up at 500g or below and I'm looking to sell it in the 5k+ Bracket once Mists comes out.  A great inflation buster IMO.

Mogging Wands
As you may or may not know, in MoP caster's main weapons will be wands.  Right now I'm buying up a couple of models that I think look really cool.

The first pictured is the Torch of Austen.  I like this particular model because it looks like a torch as the name implies. I think that once casters have wands as their main weapon the wand transmog market is going to explode, and this is a great already existing BoE wand to get.

The second one I have pictured is Gwyneth's Runed Dragonwand.  Although you can't see it from my screenshot, the head of the dragon has flames coming out of it.  This wand SCREAMS MoP transmog.

I'm very interested in putting a list together of some viable transmog BoE wands, as they will be a new hot market in Mists, and who wouldn't like have control of it from the get go?

So I hope I provided at least just a little insight to my stockpiling, hope it helped you get some ideas, I will be posting more in the future on what else I'm stockpiling, and hopefully a wand mogging list!

Cheers,

Phat Lewts

Xmog list Update Feb 11, 2018

Just an FYI, I've updated the Transmog list as of  2/11/2018. The link is in the navigation bar above. As per the usual, I've just...
