Phat's Weekly Lewt Review 2/13

A day late this week, but close enough.  This week I'll have an 8 day week, next week a 6 day.  My results this week look as follows:

According to TSM I should be up roughly 93k this week, but I'm only up about 34k this week.  This is because I've been buying a ton of GIO from a supplier, which isn't recorded in TSM.

Transmog Whisperer
As a transmog seller I get this question a lot, yet I'm always surprised when people ask it, and like to reply with the following:

People ask if I ever make gold with transmog, as if I love reposting hundreds of items every 48 hours, paying literally hundreds of gold in AH fees in the end just to lose gold.  I wonder if people think before they ask these kinds of questions.  Logic!

On the Alliance side of things, a potential transmog buyer sent me a mail saying that I should sell them an item for about  5% what I had it listed for, because it was only worth that.  Now here's the thing, if you want to say hey I only have x gold and I like that item, what do you think of making a deal?  Okay, that's fine, I'll consider it.  But telling me I don't know how to price an item is not the way into my heart.  I relisted the item at twice the price, and they have kept pestering me.  The thing that bothers me the most is that it's for transmog, and there are literally 12 identical models, some rewards from quests, some drops from low level dungeon bosses, so there is no reason to really buy it if you did ~1 minute of research on Wowhead.  Oh well.

Surplus
With all the surplus GIO I have I've been doing a lot of prospecting, bar making (which is nice because it's AFK time), and transmuting.  It's actually perfect timing with 5.2 on the horizon, it will be nice to not have to craft daily when it drops.  As I've mentioned elsewhere what I'm doing right now for gems (rare) is cutting 20 of each cut that sells, and posting on 12 hr auctions, so I don't need to cancel really ever, which is nice.

Week in Sales
A big chunk of my income this week was from DMF cards, but I've yet to sell a single trinket.  If they do sell I will indeed be crafting more for 5.2, but if they do not, I will probably skip out on making decks during the next DMF and just stick to the cards.  I've got a good ~100k in trinkets that haven't moved yet, but they have a good 3 weeks before doomsday.  I also made a lot of gem sales.  I noticed that on my server (relatively small) that after Sha runs there's a big boost in gem and enchant purchases, so if you see a run advertising in trade, post when the advertisements stop, and you're sure to hook a few extra sales!

Phat's Weekly Lewt Review 1/15

So it's the third Tuesday of 2013, and I'm writing my third Weekly Review of 2013.  My streak is going good so far, and I hope that at the very least it will continue through the winter!

Invincible Messing Up My Numbers
Of course this week my gold totals took a HUGE hit, plummeting down 750k because I purchased Invincible's Reins.  I wrote a post about it, and if you want to check that out, read it here!  This is by far the biggest hit to my gold total of all time.  Previously I've sank 150k gold into TCG mounts to flip, and made it back (and then some).  My gold total this week started at 1,838,647 g, so minus the 750k we can call it 1,088,647g.  I ended the week with 1,156,139 g, so I'm up 67,492, which is pretty good!

DMF Profits
Of course a bulk of my profits this week came from selling DMF cards I crafted, but I was trying to put a few too many decks together, and didn't end up selling my remaining cards until Thursday, getting last minute buyers (which wasn't all bad).  I prefer getting Trinkets to cards because on my server at least it's more profitable.  Some specific cards may be worth it, but my server is small and this path is still the way to go for me.  Below is a snapshot of my DMF sales for those interested, click the picture to enlarge.  I have about 5-7 decks on top of this, so a lot more profit to come from the DMF during the off weeks.

Transmog Woes
Nine times out of ten my transmog is one of my best sellers for the week and my time spent running between the mailbox and auctioneer is worth it, but this week was not one of those weeks.  That's the kind of market that transmog is though, it's very volatile and you can sell 2 items one week and make 10k, and the next week sell 12 items and make 5k.  This week I did neither, it was an overall loss for transmog (my posting prices are about 1k/48 hr posting).  I've been considering just posting the higher tier stuff for a while, but even now, the task of weeding out all the non wanted items seems like an epic chore, that I don't want to undertake right now.  In general the transmog market on my server is still kicking.

Livestreaming!
Recently I have been toying with the idea of livestreaming, maybe for an hour or so a day, so people can get some additional insight into my gold making scheme, or just see how unproductively I'm able to do things and still make a ton of gold :-P.  If you want to follow my channel to see when I'm streaming check it out here.  I will also be announcing when I go live via my twitter.  I'm thinking by tomorrow (Wednesday) I'll have everything worked out and ready to start test streaming, so come and see!

Phat's Weekly Lewt Review 1/8

So it's Tuesday, which means it's time for Phat's Weekly Lewt Review!

Updated Gold Total Tab!
If you click the 'Gold Total' tab above, you will see I've added a graph as well as a table on my current gold total, and it's growth over the past.  I decided that I wanted to see a graph of my gold growth over time, and since I made it I figured I'd share it with those of you who are interested.  The table below it includes changes between updates (some are longer than others), as well as a neat little graph to see my gold growth.  I'm going to update this one weekly from now on, so hopefully the graph becomes more informative over time.  If you look, you'll notice I made 48.6k this week, or about 7k per day.  Check it out it's pretty interesting!

Transmog Sales

What you see here is a snapshot of all my transmog sales for the week.  Since my transmog sellr also sells Hypnotic Dust, Frostweave, and Valentine's mounts, you'll also see some of that!  (I'm too lazy to edit them out).  Basically 10 pieces sold this week with an average sell price of around 1k, so it was a good week for transmog for me.  The Soulkeeper I usually keep in a group that's at 5k, but I lowered to 2.5k this week to experiment, and I was almost disappointed when it sold for that, so I bumped it back up.  Still made a great profit, but I like getting the huge chunk of change from those who really want the item!

83-84 Gear
The 83-84 gear bracket has been amazing for me recently.  I sold over 20 items this week alone!  I price them at 500g, and buy at 100g or under, so conservatively I made at least 8k in profits from this method alone.  The key is reposting and keeping your downtime to a minimum.  Your items need to be on the Auction House when that one character makes that impulse purchase, and then you'll be raking in the gold!

77-78 gear is doing really well for me too, but it's a LOT slower than the 83-84 market, and less available to purchase to flip.  Still well worth it though!

Darkmoon
Of course with the DMF beginning this past Sunday, I was investing a copious amount of gold in cards/herbs/etc.  I've assembled  6 decks this Faire (aiming for 7) and what's left of my superfluous cards I'm selling as individuals now.  I've been working on leveling alts, but I keep forgetting to get the 10% buff from the Faire ride, even though I'm more than aware that it is in town this week.

Back Into Glyphs
In the middle of the past week I got back into glyphs!  I had been using one alt to post glyphs, but withdrawing glyphs from my guild bank in bulk was slow, so I split them between my Scribe as well as a level 50 hunter.  So far it's not going too bad, making anywhere from 500-2500g/day depending on how much I repost.  I had made all the glyphs before the supposed "Glyphmas 2.0" and I literally still have at least 10 of each.  Yikes.  Instead of having em sit in my bank rotting I decided to start posting again.  I actually now have quite a few recipes I've never crafted because of research, and I'm considering crafting them, but definitely not until the Faire is over.  We'll see if my affinity for glyphs lasts long this time around, I usually get sick of the constant reposting cycle quite quickly, although a lot of the competition I originally have seem to have disappeared from the market.

Other than that I've just been making the basics, crafted PvP gear, Rare JC rings/necks, cut gems, Living Steel, Flasks, etc.  Also I'm starting to work on some profession guides.  If all works out well they should be out by the end of the month, just in time for 5.2 to render them obsolete!

Phat's Weekly Lewt Review: 12/18

Those of you that have been regular readers of my blog for a while know that I used to regularly come out with a "weekly review" going over what worked for me and didn't work for me in the past week in WoW.  I haven't come out with one in a while since MoP launch, but I think that now is a good time in the expansion to look at weekly trends.

Living Steel
Living Steel has still been strong for me.  I get weird peaks and valleys of selling it, it seems that when it does sell, it sells somewhere in the 8-12 range at a time, which is nice.  Again being on a small server, I'm sure most other servers have a steady in and out stream of Living Steel, but it's just not the case for me.

Transmog

My level 1 transmog seller (pictured here) has been very busy as of late!  This week I tried a new strategy with transmog, which I'm liking quite a bit and I'm going to address in it's very own post.  What I've been doing is searching for items 600 at a time.  Yes.  A 600 item TSM list that takes a ridiculously long amount of time to search for.  I go afk or browse the internet while it's working, and go through the results when it's done buying anything under 50g that will sell.  It's been working quite well so far, and hopefully later today I'll have a post up here including my list and how to use it if you're new to transmog (or not).  It makes transmog shopping a bit more painless, which is always great in my opinion.



DMF Trinks
On my server DMF trinks are still going strong, during DMF I was able to sell quite a few individual cards for a nice markup, and I came out with 3 trinkets (one of which sold already).  A good haul IMO, still burning those cooldowns daily, and will in the weeks to come!

Gems
JC has also been doing decently well on my server, mostly because the halving of the ore nodes actually impacted my server.  A lot of servers are back to normal, or at least near it, but my server, because of it's smaller size still has high prices on Ghost Iron Ore, and it's making gems worth slightly more, which is nice.  Worth me doing a bit of prospecting and cutting now with my WoW time.

Halfhill Market
If you haven't been already, get rep with the Tillers!  I've been planting Enigma Seeds recently (see my previous post) and I'm making about 750g/day worth of herbs.  Quite the nice haul from farming.  In Halfhill as well there is Nam Ironpaw, and this dude should be your new best friend.  If you go to theunderminejournal, and click "Gathered -> Cooking" after getting on your server, you'll find a list entitled "Ironpaw Token Trades" of the cheapest items turn into Bundles of Groceries (containers from Merchant Chang after doing starting quests).  Buy those up off the AH, bundle them up, and exchange them in Halfhill for Ironpaw Tokens.  Using them you can buy 100 Year Soy Sauce, Black Pepper, and/or Rice Flour and sell them for a markup on your AH.  I find that these usually sell to people who are trying to max their cooking for the first time rather than max chefs for raiding guilds.  The max chefs tend to know about this arbitrage, but are using it for their guilds.

That's all for me, one last thing to note is I recently bought a Battered Hilt off the BMAH for 10k, and I put myself on a deadline to sell it by the end of the year.  If I don't I'm going to do the quest line myself as I never got to do it in Wrath.  My week in WoW was pretty good, I crossed the 1.75 million threshold on my server, aiming for 2 million by Jan 8th, but we'll see how that goes!  Also bought an invite to the Brawler's Guild, and I found it quite boring actually, but I did not pay much for it, so no big loss there.  How was your past week in WoW gold?  What is/isn't selling for you?

The Stormspire Challenge

Wow.  Just realizing I haven't posted in over 2 weeks now.  This isn't where I make my obligatory I've needed a break from WoW or I've been playing Diablo 3 post, I have been playing WoW.

In fact I've started up on a new server to partake in the Great Stormspire Scavenger Hunt.  It's a competition among some gold makers where the objective is to get as many items off a list of rare/expensive items as possible, to score points.  If you are interested in how the scoring will take place, you can read more about it on the site.

How I'm doing it.
I'm not going to divulge too much information, but I figured a basic outline could benefit my readers.  I started off with a DK with mining/herbalism.  Yes.  I chose gathering professions.  It's very hard to powerlevel a crafting profession when your goal is to buy expensive things the second they come available.  I did not however use these professions at all the first week of the competition, but I was able to make a truck load of gold.  During the first full week, the Darkmoon Faire was available, and those of you who know about the gold making potential of the Darkmoon Faire know I was fishing the pools of wreckage like a boss.  Doing this I managed to net about 1,000g per hour, when I had no competition fishing.

I'd also like to note that I chose the Horde for my DK, because according to realmpop, horde has a slightly larger base on the server chosen for this contest, although the split is about even.  I'm currently collecting items, but I haven't been sending them in for scoring yet, I like the element of surprise.  I'm considering farming a few of them due to lack of availability on the AH, and the time constraints of this contest.  The Sunwell patterns in particular seem rare on this server and make up a large portion of the contest.  There are about 32 patterns and each has a .2% chance of dropping off a mob, so its an ESTIMATED (that's right internet!) drop rate of about 6.4%, more realistically 6.2055%, modeled as a binomial random variable with a 99.8% chance of failure.

Flipping
Once I had my initial pool of gold, I started flipping items on the auction house.  Doing this I used theunderminejournal's deals page to find some cheap things to flip.  In particular I was able to buy 20 Brilliant Inferno Rubies for a 60g per bid, and resell at 90g, which is nice because they sell almost instantly.  I was also able to win 2 Brilliant Inferno Rubies for a less than 1g bid.  The AH was basically giving me gold.  By no means am I expecting this to be the norm, but I was able to find some good deals, and it's something to look into.
