Phat's Weekly Lewt Review 7/24

If you like my blog follow me on twitter, @PhatLewtsGold!!

So this week has been a busy one for me.  The most I have been able to repost per day is 3 times, so I've been undercut a bit, but I noticed no real slowing of sales.  I made about 70,000 gold this week, so around 10k/day, just shy of my goal of a grand total of 1.5 million (which I will hopefully hit tonight).  If you are curious to see my gold totals check out the page on my blog, [My Current Gold Total], the link will always be at the top of the page and I try to update it every Tuesday.

Stance on Pets
Today I read the post on battle.net about the changes to wild pets.  If you are interested it the Blue Post is at this link. Basically they're making it so that pets you catch in the wild can no longer be caged and sold on the Auction House.  Now while this doesn't effect my stockpile, it's got me thinking for sure.  I was planning on dumping a lot of my pets I had stockpiled, because all doubles of pets that characters have will be mailed to them when the battle system is released, meaning a huge influx of pets (still going to get a lot of Elementium Geodes cheap because it'll just be really rare come MoP).  So right now I'm all SELL, SELL, SELL!

With Blizzard changing their mind on pets like this though it makes me wonder if the pet battle system, and this mailing of pets will remain the way it is right now on the PTR.  I'm still going to sell off my pets.  I made sure to pay no more than 1500 for any pet that I got, so selling them between 4-5k will mean profit anyway. I'm just curious of how the whole thing is going to pan out, if you have an idea or speculation, throw it in the comment section, I'd love to know what people think about this volatile market!

Inscription
For those of you not familiar with the "Glyph Wall" strategy, check out Croda's post on it.  Now I personally would never do a glyph wall, I just don't have the time or patience, and for me inscription is not my main source of profit.  BUT as noted in an earlier post, I recently got back into glyphs on my server, and my main competition is not liking it and posting at cost for some glyphs, and below cost (at least for me) on others, most likely trying to drive me out of the market.  Again since I don't like playing these sorts of games, I just have TSM post back on my reset value, and that's that.  Honestly, it costs me 1 silver to post each glyph, So I spend maybe 4-6g posting all the glyphs that I have.  I don't really care if they sell today or in 3 weeks.  I just want to sell at a profit.

If you are interested in another strategy of glyph making check out Nev's post on the topic.  She has a great spin on it, and a suggestion if you're leveling a scribe, which I think is great.  In general I use this method, except I just craft 2 of everything I have, and only post at a profitable margin that I see fit (mine is a 60g minimum as my glyphs cost ~20-25g to craft on my server).  If prices are below that it will post at 299g, my fall back, and probably wont sell, but for 2 silver, I'm willing to ignore it!

Wrath Epic Gems
In this recent post I talked about how to make a ton of gold cutting Wrath gems, and recently the market has been BOOMING on my server.  An 80 twink guild has just showed up, combined with my normal audience of 70 twinks, I can't keep enough gems on the shelf to keep up with demand!  This has been a great market for me this week, and I highly suggest adding it to your arsenal if you have a Jewelcrafter.  Some servers definitely will already have this market on lockdown, so make sure you do some research on your specific server in particular.

I'm thinking about writing a post about some common gold misconceptions, but I'm having trouble coming up with more than a few.  What are some common misconceptions that you think players have about gold making in WoW?

Cheers,

Phat Lewts

  1. one misconception I've come across several times is how complicated the shuffle seems to newbies - at it's most basic, it's very straightforward but can be as complex or as simple as you like, I think anyway. Been told several times 'ooh that sounds really complicated' or 'that's sounds like a lot of stuff to remember'. dunno if that's what you mean but thought I'd drop it in here anyway :) Thanks for the link too xxx

  2. I'm selling off my holiday pets already as that market is going to see a major crash once the duplicate pets are given back to us from all of our alts. I am switching my stockpiling to the companion pets that have been announced as turning into the rare battle pets. They are can't go wrong investments. So I agree, Get Out While Your Pets Still Have Value!
