Phat Lewts' TradeSkillMaster Transmog Guide (with Subgroupings)

Yes, that long awaited moment is here! I'm officially releasing my new (and improved) TSM shopping lists for transmog gear. You can find the list with subgroupings at this linkand in my tool bar above. Below is a video guide to using my Transmog list, as well as an overview of my strategies. If you prefer a TL;DR, my pricing will be below.

Global Operations
Once you import the list, I use %s the following base pricing, if there's a source you do not have, click below to learn how to get it, or remove it from the expression all together.
avg(WowuctionRegionMarket, DBGlobalMarketAvg)
Alternatively I have import strings for the shopping and auctioning operations below:
Shopping Import String:
^1^T^Smodule^SShopping^SshowAboveMaxPrice^B^SmaxPrice^S20%~`avg(wowuctionregionmarket,~`dbglobalmarketavg)^t^^

Auctioning Import String:
^1^T^Smodule^SAuctioning^SaboveMax^SmaxPrice^SnormalPrice^S125%~`avg(WowuctionRegionMarket,~`DBGlobalMarketAvg)^ScancelUndercut^B^SkeepQuantity^N0^SpostCap^N4^SbidPercent^F8556839292003943^f-53^SmaxPrice^S250%~`avg(WowuctionRegionMarket,~`DBGlobalMarketAvg)^SignoreLowDuration^N0^SstackSize^N1^SkeepPosted^N0^SresetMaxItemCost^N1000000^SresetMinProfit^N500000^SresetMaxQuantity^N5^SresetResolution^N100^Sundercut^N1^SpriceReset^SnormalPrice^SresetMaxCost^N500000^ScancelRepostThreshold^N10000^SresetMaxInventory^N10^SminPrice^S50%~`avg(WowuctionRegionMarket,~`DBGlobalMarketAvg)^ScancelRepost^B^Sduration^N48^t^^

Basically my method is to buy at 20% of global prices and sell from 50% - 250%, with my normal being 125%. If you're interested in using these global price sources as I do,

check out this page for more information on how to get these global PRICE SOURCES.

Also don't forget to use Mogit for their ever so amazing hover over model viewer.

What's New in this List?
I've eliminated 99% of all Bracers in my original list. I've also removed cloth pants that go under robes and anything that TUJ says is globally worth <125g. Took me forever to figure out how to easily get this accomplished using Excel, but got it all sorted out and the lists are pretty solid! This gives you the flexiblity to price each subgroup by hand, which is really neat, and I'd suggest for those of you who think their posting prices are a bit off base.

Anyway that's about all there is to know, if you have any questions feel free to ask in the comments section, and be sure to check out the video for more information about how I work with transmog!

Cheers,

Phat Lewts

  1. I love the video! im fairly new to wow and TSM and I was just wondering if I have items that I wanted to sell but at say for example 299g for a particular breastplate then would i need to set up an operation for that particular item on its own? Just that I like to keep my prices the save and very rarely will i drop the price unless someone has undercut me by 1s or 1c. All my items that I have for xmog are priced individually so this seems really difficult for me but I sell lots and lots of it. HELP!

    1. Just do exactly what Phat says. No need to individually price - its all done for you.

    2. In your scenario you'd have to price them by hand. If you want though you could just import my group and delete the subgroups leaving the parent group with a mish mosh of transmog gear. I'd suggest going off of global pricing to make your life easier. I was using hand priced fixed gold values for a while, and I've made much more sales this way, but if it's what you want it's what you want!

    3. thanks for that. i appreciate it. I will have to price them individually or make categories purely on price. That might be an idea. At the moment I am making around 20k each day but the thing is I also have 1000 auctions up there at the moment. the last 7 days i have made just shy of 150,000 gold. so i guess its going well but the bf always complains when its time to relist all my auctions! i enjoy watching your videos and learning new things about TSM. wish they held classes on it tho, im the type of person who just cant grasp some things unless shown!

  2. Hi Phat

I'd started flipping mogging items a little while ago - and was only breaking even - had got up to around 700 items - buying anything less than 30g and selling for a flat 245g. Hitting 700 items and i started to make a profit - 1k a day. Since i set up using your instructions I've dumped a third of my inventory as crap to DE and tripled my profit. And i think that is just the start of something quite good. Had a half day at work today, logged on just when kids normally get home from school - and watch 7 items sell quickly - nothing i paid more than 10g for and every item selling for over 300. Made 870g profit on a pair of boots bought for 4g.

Phat's advice is no 1 - need not go anywhere else.

  3. Hey Phat

I too am new to TSM. Awesome video man. Straight, to the point, real information. My question has to do with your operation base pricing. So far I've been using "% dbmarket" but you're using "% min(TUJGEMarket, WowuctionRegionMarket)". I get that they pull info from different sources, but I'm wondering why you prefer your away over mine? Sorry if you've already covered this in another video. Thanks.

    1. The reason I prefer global data in this situation is because your server's prices can be very volatile, or only reflect levelers finding these items and selling them as greens. For example, the Bloodscale set, which I sell individually for 100's of gold for even pieces like the belt, can be found in level 61-63 dungeons. A leveler getting this piece of gear won't sell it for more than say 40-50g, and if that's the norm on your server, you would never see it in your shopping list.

Global prices allow you to look at other markets as well, where transmog is priced accordingly to demand (hopefully) and provides a very reasonable assessment of what you can sell it for. If you priced based on DBMarket you'd find very little in terms of transmog to flip, and would be selling at a price most likely lower than what you could get for it.

Of course this all varies by server, if you tried the global prices out and you just can't get them realistically to work on your server, and you like the way DBMarket works, by all means go for it!

    2. So I kind of accidentally deleted all my TSM settings yesterday (along with most of my UI... I mostly only meant to reado the UI stuff) so going through TSM tutorials to help me set it back up, hopefully cleaner and more efficient :) I'd been using max (x% DBMarket, y% wowuctoinRegionMarket) for a lot of my sell operations on the theory that my server is kind of randomly expensive for certain items, so that way I'd be able to price things according to either the server economy or the region market value, depending on which is higher. Or am I wrong as to how I was thinking about how that works?

Thanks for the great videos :)

    3. Yup that'll work. It'll make sure you're not underpricing yourself either based on a global source or your server. I personally like using just global because it represents where prices have settled on multiple servers, and a reasonable amount you can expect to get, but for many servers (especially RP servers and ones with stronger xmog population), this is a great alternative!

  4. I'm not sure if I imported the shopping and auctions operations right or not, but I don't have them ignoring random enchants. I would like when I do a shopping search for all random enchants to be grouped together, instead of separating them. Because of them being transmog, the enchant doesn't matter.

Same this with auctioning. When I post, I don't want to only undercut 'of the Tiger' of the item, I want to undercut them all.

    Thanks for the help.

  5. Great videos! I'm learning so much. Thanks for putting this all together. I do have one question. The Shopping & Auctioning Strings....how do I use those?

    1. There are similar import tabs for auctioning and shopping operations. Create an operation and go to Management -> Import Operation Settings and paste it in that box. Could end up being faster by hand too haha

  6. This is fantastic. Thanks so much! I have a few questions.

    1) Why use both TUJGEMarket and WowuctionRegionMarket? Why not just use Wowuction?

    2) If both are necessary, is there a way to use the TSM desktop app to pull TUJ info or do I need to somehow import that manually every so often?

Thanks for all the amazing work you do for gold makers!

    1. Hey, the TUJGE addon updates weekly, and with those updates you get all the price trends from the past week. I just like both sources because it provides a nice balance, they have slightly different algorithms and I'd rather rely on 2 estimates instead of 1.

  7. I dont know what i did wrong, i added the strings, but when i wanted to search the shopping list in the action house it sais: '' invalid costum price source for . Invalid word: 'wowunctionregiomarket

  9. I turned my "show auctions above max price" option off and I found that there is a ton of items still up there. I am selling around 3k worth of stuff each day with a 160 item inventory. Should I be buying everything below my buying price and ramping my inventory up to 500-1000. Although I planned on doing that I might reach that goal a lot faster than i thought. I won't buy EVERYTHING just what i know sell. Should i be doing this or should i be going at a rate of about 100 new items a week.

  10. Hi Phat! How many items do you buy for stocking? And how often are you lucky to earn a few k of gold on this x-mog shuffling? I did everything your guide says, but I havent made more than 400g of an item I found for 6g (which in itself is a huge profit, but nothing else has sold so far)
Else, great guide! :) Keep it up!

  12. After posting up some more auctions, on the Auctioning tab I clicked the 'Show All Auctions' button and it came up with a lot of items, some of which I had auctions for and others I didn't have any auctions for at all. Also, quite a few of them had way below 50% Market Value as the lowest buyout price, so surely they should be showing up when I do a shopping search?

Just mass confusion, I hope you can help!

    1. If you're using my pricing you're only looking to purchase below 20% of regional market value, you can change that if you think that the profitability is high enough that you'd make it back.

    2. What I mean is that on the Show All Auctions tab, there are items there that are indeed under 20% market value (was just using 50% as an example) but those items do not show up on when I do a shopping scan and I am unsure as to why.

    3. Hard to tell what the issue is here, I'd suggest posting in the TSM forums or hopping in TSM chat, both can be found from TSM's website.

  13. Not sure if the other comment went through, but I noticed your Xmog Groups also gave me one called Xmog Defunct. I assume that's the worthless group or the one that doesn't sell as much?
