Rare Battle Pets Mean Lots of Gold!

It seems Cold beat me to posting a list, but I'm going to post the list I've been working on along with the gold making tips here, but definitely check out his list as well.

So we have come to that juncture in time.  What to do with rare pets?  Well luckily for you I'm just crazy enough to put together a list, organized by means of obtaining, of all the current pets that are going to be made into Rare Battle pets.  That list can be found here. Take a moment to familiarize yourself with this. It's important.

You may be thinking "Why put together a list of the BoP and BoE pets?  We gold makers only care about the BoEs!".  Well you should care about the BoP pets as well because even though  "All promotional, CE, Blizzard Pet Store, TCG and quest pets are currently not tradeable", rare spawns will be, as seen in my table (as well as Achievement and DMF pets). Also note that Catchable pets will be non-tradeable (this post more recent than quoted post, meaning the only way to obtain rares without going out and catching them is these pets.  (I told you this list is important!!!)).   But first, as any respectable post including BoE items goes, a list for finding the BoE pets on the AH:

The BoE Pets:
Auctionator List:

***Rare Battle Pets:
Azure Whelpling
Captured Firefly
Crimson Whelpling
Dark Whelpling
Emerald Whelpling
Gundrak Hatchling
Hyacinth Macaw
Razzashi Hatchling
Disguisting Oozeling
Guardian Cub
Elementium Geode

TSM List:
s1@8498,29960,20769,10822,48116,67282,72068,8499,8494,48126,34535$@

BoP Pets
So now the truly interesting part of the post.  The pets that I'm most focused on is these.  The rare spawns. The Darkmoon pets will be tradeable, but IMO they're too common/easy to obtain.  Also, the Profession and Achievement pets will possibly be tradeable.  I have a feeling the Achievement ones may be made non-tradeable so I'm not going to solely focus on them.

The reason we want to get these is because "If you have multiple versions of the same pet on multiple characters on your account, they will be merged into one. We will place any extras in your bags or mail them to you if you are out of space."  This is important.  If you get say 10 of a rare BoP pet, one on each of your alts, you will recieve 9 in the mail that are (as of right now) sellable.  DISCLAIMER: I'm not guaranteeing that this will be how it is when MoP ships, but for now it's all we have to go on, and I'm digging it.

First is my favorite from the bunch:
Phoenix Hatchling
This little guy is just cool looking!  Who wouldn't want a phoenix as a battle pet?  This guy is an ~9% drop from the last boss of Magisters' Terrace.  This can be completed on Normal or heroic, and soloed easily by an 85.  I personally would suggest you do a heroic run on each of the alts you want to try for this pet on rather than a bunch of normal runs on one alt.  Why?  Account wide mounts and this boss on heroic drops Swift White Hawkstrider.  Of course after you obtain it, feel free to farm the pet on regulars, or ignore the mount altogether, it's your call!

Mr. Grubbs
This guy intrigues me.  He may not be the most pretty pet, but comments on wowhead say this guy is not too hard to farm, because adds respawn in certain areas quite quickly.  When 5.0.4 comes out (the Pre-expansion patch) AoE looting will be added to the game.  Mr. Grubbs is going to be my first personal test of AoE looting.  If the adds spawn as fast as some claim they do, this 1% drop should be easily farmable (need to complete certain quests first).  Again I personally will not even attempt this guy until 5.0.4 drops, because hey why not wait for AoE looting?  The one drawback may be that when they make the pets account bound in 5.0.4 you may not be able to get the multiples.  Only time will tell (and hopefully some more blue posts before then!).  If nothing else I will cage the one that I get and sell it :-P.

Pebble and Jadefang
Tiny Shale Spider, obtained today.

There are two pets in Deepholm that I have my eye on for Battle Pets.  Pebble, the reward from doing 10 Dailies: Rock Lover, and Tiny Shale Spider, obtained from killing the rare spawn Jadefang.  If you have the dailies unlocked in Uldum you can try for both of these.  I had never gone after Jadefang before so I tried to see how difficult it was.  Jadefang was there when I went, and I got my first Tiny Shale Spider.  This comment on Wowhead explains how to get there perfectly.  For both of these you will need to have the dailies in Deepholm unlocked.  Like I said originally I am skeptical as to whether or not Achievment pets (in this case Pebble) will be tradeable, but I am confident that the Rare Spawns will be (ie Tiny Shale Spider).

*WARNING: Since Jadefang is (or was before Molten Front) a sought after pet, odds are Jadefang will be cached on your NPC Scan, don't let NPC Scan fool you, check for yourself.  You will be able to target Jadefang, if there, from the green rock (see the comment on wowhead).*

Crosolisks in the City
"Toothy"
The last pets I'm going to try to get multiples of are the Crocolisk pets from the Shattrath Fishing Daily: Crocolisks in the City.  These cute little guys are too good to pass up, even if "quest pets" are non-tradeable at the moment.  The reason I'm thinking that these guys could possibly be tradeable is because they're not directly obtainable from the quest, they are drops from the bags, and I think if they do become tradeable, they'll be great sellers.

That's all for me on the gold making front of these pets.  Which one of the Rare Battle Pets are you most excited about?

MoP in 2 Months!

So it's officially official that MoP will be released in 2 MONTHS.

I must say I am VERY surprised it is coming out so soon, but for gold making, there couldn't be better news!  When news of Mists coming out so very soon hits the public, people will be flocking back to the game to level alts and prepare their characters for the new expansion, so look forward to increased population on all servers in the upcoming 2 months leading up to MoP.  I'm going to go over some things I'll be looking out for in the coming month.

Cata Twink Gear
The 77-80 market is not going to be replaced by anything in MoP.  There will most likely be a substantial decrease in the amount of this gear available to buy and resell, but I wouldn't worry about dumping it all the moment you log on today.  It's still a viable market come MoP, levelers will always want to buy gear, no matter how much the gold making community and advice givers in general advise against it.

Now on the other hand, if you have been dipping into the 83-84 Cata gear market, there should be a RED FLAG coming up.  SELL, SELL, SELL!!  Cut your prices in this market, still sell at profit, but you want to dump all this stuff as fast as possible.  In the same way Cataclysm created the 77-80 Twink market, Mists of Pandaria is creating an 83-84 Twink Market.  Here is a list of all the items that are 83-84 BoE added in MoP and (some are) worlds better than whats available as an epic at level 85 right now.  Keep this gear in mind when you start leveling your 85s on September 25th!

Inscription
There's been a lot of rumors floating around about inscription recently.   Going back to the Cata pre-expansion patch, we saw that you were no longer able to trade inks until the release of Cata.  Been stockpiling Blackfallow?  Start trading them in!  If you haven't been stockpiling now is the time to start, it is almost too late to ensure a great distribution, but you don't want to miss out on (what could possibly be) Glyphmas 2.0.  Make sure you keep up to date on all the OFFICIAL changes that will be made (what glyphs will be changing over, which ones are being left in the dust, what inks you'll need etc.).  If you're hardcore into inscription and you want to keep up to date on all the official changes and nuances, I'm not your man.  Make sure you follow Croda's blog marketsforgold, his main focus is glyphs, and glyphs are my least favorite market.

Stockpiling
Again, getting late on this but there are still ways to start stockpiling now.

Pets are a great way to stockpile, especially the Elementium Geode as I had suggested in previous stockpiling posts.  I plan on coming out with a post based entirely on stocking up on pets for Mists, so I'm not going to delve into it too much, but for more of a read check out Cold's post Get Out While You Still Can!

Cataclysm mats are another great thing to stockpile.  With the influx of players, raw mats on the AH should at least increase in volume, if not decrease in price as well.  For selling a few months into Mists, raw mats are a great thing to stockpile long term, especially Hypnotic Dust, as it will be needed to level Enchanting more than Cata Essences.

WANDS!
The wand slot will be removed in 5.0.4, and wands will be made a "main hand" caster weapon, with stats to match.  I wrote a post that you can find here about the best BoE wands to stockpile for this.  Again with the influx of players for Mists, you may start to find more of these wands on the AH, and should add them to your overall mogging searches.

This is just a small slice of the pie, but hopefully some big topics that you can start (or already are) hitting on.
What is your biggest goal to get done before the MoP release in 2 months?

Cheers,

Phat Lewts

Phat's Weekly Lewt Review 7/24

If you like my blog follow me on twitter, @PhatLewtsGold!!

So this week has been a busy one for me.  The most I have been able to repost per day is 3 times, so I've been undercut a bit, but I noticed no real slowing of sales.  I made about 70,000 gold this week, so around 10k/day, just shy of my goal of a grand total of 1.5 million (which I will hopefully hit tonight).  If you are curious to see my gold totals check out the page on my blog, [My Current Gold Total], the link will always be at the top of the page and I try to update it every Tuesday.

Stance on Pets
Today I read the post on battle.net about the changes to wild pets.  If you are interested it the Blue Post is at this link. Basically they're making it so that pets you catch in the wild can no longer be caged and sold on the Auction House.  Now while this doesn't effect my stockpile, it's got me thinking for sure.  I was planning on dumping a lot of my pets I had stockpiled, because all doubles of pets that characters have will be mailed to them when the battle system is released, meaning a huge influx of pets (still going to get a lot of Elementium Geodes cheap because it'll just be really rare come MoP).  So right now I'm all SELL, SELL, SELL!

With Blizzard changing their mind on pets like this though it makes me wonder if the pet battle system, and this mailing of pets will remain the way it is right now on the PTR.  I'm still going to sell off my pets.  I made sure to pay no more than 1500 for any pet that I got, so selling them between 4-5k will mean profit anyway. I'm just curious of how the whole thing is going to pan out, if you have an idea or speculation, throw it in the comment section, I'd love to know what people think about this volatile market!

Inscription
For those of you not familiar with the "Glyph Wall" strategy, check out Croda's post on it.  Now I personally would never do a glyph wall, I just don't have the time or patience, and for me inscription is not my main source of profit.  BUT as noted in an earlier post, I recently got back into glyphs on my server, and my main competition is not liking it and posting at cost for some glyphs, and below cost (at least for me) on others, most likely trying to drive me out of the market.  Again since I don't like playing these sorts of games, I just have TSM post back on my reset value, and that's that.  Honestly, it costs me 1 silver to post each glyph, So I spend maybe 4-6g posting all the glyphs that I have.  I don't really care if they sell today or in 3 weeks.  I just want to sell at a profit.

If you are interested in another strategy of glyph making check out Nev's post on the topic.  She has a great spin on it, and a suggestion if you're leveling a scribe, which I think is great.  In general I use this method, except I just craft 2 of everything I have, and only post at a profitable margin that I see fit (mine is a 60g minimum as my glyphs cost ~20-25g to craft on my server).  If prices are below that it will post at 299g, my fall back, and probably wont sell, but for 2 silver, I'm willing to ignore it!

Wrath Epic Gems
In this recent post I talked about how to make a ton of gold cutting Wrath gems, and recently the market has been BOOMING on my server.  An 80 twink guild has just showed up, combined with my normal audience of 70 twinks, I can't keep enough gems on the shelf to keep up with demand!  This has been a great market for me this week, and I highly suggest adding it to your arsenal if you have a Jewelcrafter.  Some servers definitely will already have this market on lockdown, so make sure you do some research on your specific server in particular.

I'm thinking about writing a post about some common gold misconceptions, but I'm having trouble coming up with more than a few.  What are some common misconceptions that you think players have about gold making in WoW?

Phat's Weekly Lewt Review 7/17

If you like my blog follow me on twitter, @PhatLewtsGold!!

So I'm back doing the weekly review posts, to kind of summarize my week in WoW gold making, and give you some insight into what I'm doing currently to make gold.

Return of my Routine
This week I got out of my gold making rut I was in from the Stormspire Scavenger Hunt.  It was a fun competition and I learned a lot of how hard it actually is to start gold making on a server, especially with time constraints, and competing against like minded players!  With the return of my full effort this week I made 90,479g in profit.  Not too shabby considering that in the past few weeks I've made about 100k total, so this week (barring some expensive stockpiling) has been my profitable over the past 2 months by a LONG shot.

So this week I got back into my routine, which I don't think I've ever really detailed, and I've even gotten into...glyphs.  Yes, my least favorite crafting profession, but I've indeed been dabbling in glyphs, with good returns. Still not my favorite to grind, but I have a good TSM setup right now and it's working out well for me.  So my routine consists of the following:

  1. JC: Prospecting Ore to cut/DE (also buying/cutting LK Epic Gems)
  2. Making scrolls with leftovers from above (plus Maelstroms)
  3. Transmuting Carnelians to Inferno Rubies (to be cut into Brilliant, Delicate, Bold)
  4. Alchemy Cooldowns every day (more on this below)
  5. Milling Cheap Whiptail
  6. Glyphs - 2 of each, only posting at 200% or greater profit (again more below)
  7. Tailoring Spellthreads
  8. Transmog
  9. 77-78 Twink Gear
  10. Corrupting the Alliance side of my server (Transmog/Twink Gear only)
So I've got a lot to do, when I finish one I move on to another, and trust me I have ore and herbs backed up to be "processed" but my stock of gems and glyphs is full as is, so no need to really process it at the moment.

Glyph Setup
So the way I'm running glyphs is this.  I'm only milling Whiptail for Blackfallow Ink which I trade.  Each glyph crafted uses 3/5ths of a stack of whiptail (ink wise).  Using the price I buy whiptail as the guide, I set 300% of each glyph price (or 1.8x the stack of a whiptail) to be my minimum posting price (300% return - 100% payed = 200% minimum profit).  If it goes below that I have TSM post at my reset price (324.99g).  I post only from my scribe because I'm not walling, and I find with only 2 of each glyph as opposed to 3 which I used to do, it makes it A LOT faster for me to cancel/repost. My scribe is still learning new recipes through Research/Books so I am currently restocking every day, but once he has them all I plan on crafting maybe twice a week.  So far it's manageable, but mostly because I don't really play my scribe and set him up with 4x Inscription Bags.

Current Thoughts on Alchemy CDs
What I'm doing right now for alchemy CDs, I have three Transmute masters, and I'm having all of them transmute Volatile Air.  I was doing Truegold for a while, but decided to lay off a bit, because Truegold isn't a guaranteed good investment right now, and I already have a decent amount of it.  I'm netting a minimum 675g guaranteed return per day burning my Volatile Air CD so I'll take that right now as opposed to the Truegold.

Stockpile
Last, but certainly not least, I'm going to mention stockpiling.  I have been currently doing daily searches, and using wowuction.com to find under priced pets to invest in.  If you're interested to see my original post on stockpiling for Mists, you can find it here.  And here is how it looks now:

So now that you know about my routine, is there anything in your gold making routine that's not in mine?

Phat Lewts

I Tailor Made This Post for Tailors

This is it.  Want to make gold with tailoring?  Try these!

Cooldown: Dreamcloth
Tailoring is a unique profession, even vs. BS/LW, because Tailoring has a unique set of cooldowns (that are usually removed by the next expansion).  The current tailoring cooldowns are for Dreamcloth.  One cooldown for Dreamcloth, Dream of Chaos recently had it's cooldown removed.  This one requires 8 Bolts of Embersilk Cloth (Equivalent to 2 stacks of Embersilk Cloth) and 4 Chaos Orbs.  The other cooldowns you can only cast once per week, and require 30 Volatiles (Air, Fire, Life, etc.).  The test here is, if you can get the Volatiles for cheaper than 4 Chaos Orbs, then do that cooldown.  If you can't (Volatile Air *cough cough*) then don't burn that cooldown.

Now for profitable uses of the Dreamcloth! other than acquiring the new Dragon Soul patterns, Dreamcloth can be used to craft Powerful Ghostly Spellthread and Powerful Enchanted Spellthread.  These are BiS leg enchants for most casting classes and sell pretty regularly, but don't forget you do get your own for next to nothing!

Vicious PvP Gear
Right now the Vicious PvP gear market is pretty hot, believe it or not.  No, it doesn't actually have to do with PvPers.  People are leveling alts, and once they hit 85 they want to get their Vicious gear ASAP, to get into HoT heroics.  To get all the patterns for the PvP gear, be sure to visit the tailoring vendor in your capitol city!  These patterns all require Bolts of Embersilk Cloth along with Volatile Fire or Water.  I personally like to craft 2 of each of these and keep both at the AH at any given time.  My fallback price is 849g each when there are none on the AH and I'm willing to go as cheap as twice the cost of mats.

Bags
Yes, the age-old tailoring money maker.  Bags are not my favorite item to craft, mostly because on my server right now, the only bags with a decent profit margin are Netherweave, and they take FOREVER to craft.  However if you are truely looking to diversify your Tailoring gold making strategy, bags are always going to make you gold.  Check your server's prices, and utilize your rare(ish) bag recipes, such as Luxurious Silk Gem Bag, a reward from Molten Front dailies.  Bags really round out well your tailoring profit potential, and shouldn't be overlooked, especially profession specific 36 slots!

Transmog!
You'd be amazed at how some craftable items are great for transmog, one of my favorites is Mooncloth Robe.  For mogging, the fastest selling thing you'll be able to craft is a robe, so go through everything you can craft as a chest piece, and start from there.  Rare recipies on the AH can turn into great profits, as are unique models such as Arcanoweave Robe.  Here is a list of all the rare and epic chests for tailoring.  Also, beyond chests, if you have the willingness to farm some adds in Karazhan every week, I think these gloves look simply amazing.

So that about wraps it up for me. Sure there are other things you can craft for profit, but after a while it's best to switch to a different profession to maximize your gold making potential. What are your favorite items to craft on your tailor to make gold

Keep Your Friends Close, and your Enemies Closer!

Hey everyone,

Short post today but I was talking to a guildmate of mine who has major competition on our server, and I recently found out that he doesn't have his competition on his friends list.  Although I'm sure a lot of the more advanced gold makers who read this have already done this, it can be of great benefit to you to know when your competition logs out (especially if it's a level 1 toon he does his posting on)

What to do?
So let's say you're in the glyph market.  You realize one day that all of your auctions have been undercut since the last time you were on by a toon named Glyphman.  Friend him!  Now you'll know his logging patterns.  Don't worry when he logs on, it's not your job to undercut him the second he posts, but once he logs OUT, then it's go time.  This isn't to say don't post because he's playing, but if you know he'll undercut you within 5 minutes, why bother?

Go the Extra Mile
Check him out on your server's page on The Undermine Journal.  Just go to your server/faction, then type in his name.  From there you can see a posting heatmap.  The hours in white are the one's he doesn't ever post in, a great time for you to undercut!

I find that a lot of level 1 posting toons only log on to post their wares, then log other toons.  This is a great thing for you, even if you use a posting toon yourself.  Just friend them on your main and when their posting toon logs, switch over to yours.  If you're already doing this, how many competitors do you have on your friends list?

Cheers,

Phat Lewts

JC and Mining, Making Wrath Gold!

Hey guys,

I originally wrote a post about something similar over a year ago, but I recently got back into doing this when I have had some free time in game, and it's a great way to amass a good amount of gold if you have Mining + JC or just JC even.

Dalaran JC Dailies
If you don't have a lot of epic and rare WotLK cuts, start doing the Dalaran Jewelcrafting dailies on your Jewelcrafter.  The quest is given by Timothy Jones in Dalaran and gets you tokens for epic and rare cuts (also it does not interfere with your regular JC daily).  Sidenote: Resilience is a great seller to these markets.

Obtaining Epic Gems
Now that you have some epic and rare cuts, you're going to want to obtain epic Wrath Gems.  This market is huge and viable for both 70 and 80 twinks, and they sell great.  Also, the cut rare gems sell well, and are byproducts of my method.  There are two profitable ways of obtaining the epic gems.  One way is to buy them for 220 Justice Points from any of these three vendors in Dalaran (probably the best way to spend excess JP).  The other way is to attempt an Icy Prism proc.  These create at least 3 gems, usually 3 rares, with a chance at a Dragon's Eye or a Wrath epic.  This USED to be a daily CD in wrath, but as of Cataclysm, you can do it as much as you want every day, but may only have one in your inventory.

Icy Prism
The downside to the second method is that you have to have to come up with Frozen Orbs.  These are only obtainable from doing Wrath Heroics (killing the final boss) or from 110 JP, which probably isn't worth it considering the Epic Gems themselves only cost 220 JP.  I just have it on a TSM search list I commonly use and pick them up whenever they're cheap (< 35g for me).  Then after I accumulate a certain amount I usually prospect for the other mats of Icy Prism from Saronite Ore, and I uses these macros to create and use the Prisms:

Crafting:

/use Jewelcrafting
/run for i=1,GetNumTradeSkills()do local skillName,_,nA,_,_,_=GetTradeSkillInfo(i)if skillName=="Icy Prism"then DoTradeSkill(i,nA)end end

Opening:
/use Icy Prism

You have to alternate between these two macros since you can only have one Icy Prism in your inventory at one time.

So Wait...Where Does Mining Come in to All of This?
Glad you asked.  To get the mats for this, as well as some additional gold, I farm (that's right I said it...FARM my Saronite Ore from Wintergrasp.  Doing about 2-3 rounds of WG on my Tauren Druid with +310% flying in a level 25 guild, I have about a stack of Titanium Ore, which I can sell for 500g/stack on my server, plus about 10-12 stacks of Saronite Ore, which I can prospect for common and rare gems for Icy Prism and Dalaran Dailies.  Make sure you have the guild perk that allows extra procs :-).

Disclaimer:  I am not claiming that farming in this case or any is the most productive or best way to spend your time.  It is however a great way to reduce your investment capital and come out on top!

Hope you enjoy this method of creative Wrath gold making, I like to change up my methods every now and then to cut the drudge of my daily gold making routine...even if that means farming!  What's your favorite way to make gold that you don't do on a daily basis?

Cheers,

Phat Lewts
